Tips from Aaron – your car, your keys

• Before calling for help to get into your locked car, try all the doors and consider whether you have access to a spare key.
• Don’t break a window. It’s harder to do than you think and expensive to replace.
• Take a picture of your car key—if you lose it, it can be duplicated from a picture.
• If you have a transponder chip in your key, be sure you always have two. Making a copy is a lot cheaper than getting a new one made and programmed.
• Your car remote is convenient, but use the key from time to time to keep the lock from freezing up or corroding. Do the same for your trunk lock.
• If your newer car doesn’t have a key hole on the door, it may be hidden under a small plate on the door handle. If you have lost your key fob, but have a valet key, this key hole gets you into your car.
